Figs! There are actually a lot of different types too but the most common fig is a black mission. We got tiger figs from our local Door to Door Organics company. Here are some reasons why you should consider picking some up! Do it fast though! They are only in season for a little while

  1. ANTICANCER- Figs have been found to be a remedy for cancer! Studies have shown that some elements in figs know asĀ tirucallane-type triterpenoids, are actually toxic to some cancer cells (1)
  2. IMMUNE SYSTEM- Figs are immune system stimulates which means they are great for flu season coming up!
  3. POTASSIUM- Figs offer a good amount of potassium! Potassium is important in diabetic patients because it helps regulate sugar being absorbed by the body (2)
  4. CALCIUM- Figs also have a good amount of calcium! This is important for those who are intolerant to dairy or choose to not eat it, plant based calcium is important for you and figs are a good option
