How are we celebrating? By eating all the GREEN VEGGIES of course 🙂 Hahah but forreal! Just because it is a holiday does not mean you need that McDonalds mysteriously green, thick liquid that many people are seriously in love with… Trust us, you don’t want one. To make that easier to resist we came up with our own recipe using fresh mint leaves which makes it so refreshing and so so good. And just to give you some food for thought lets looks at the ingredients of the McDonalds Shake 🙂
THE ICE CREAM:
Ingredients: Milk, Sugar, Cream, Corn Syrup, Natural Flavor, Mono and Diglycerides, Cellulose Gum, Guar Gum, Carrageenan, Vitamin A Palmitate.
THE FAMOUS MINTY SYRUP
Ingredients: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Water, Sugar, Natural Flavor, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Yellow 5, Blue 1.
So as you can tell this has a lot more ingredients in it then ours and a lot of stuff you don’t wanted to be consuming (HFCS, carrageenan, artificial dyes, preservatives and over 20 ingredients). And guys. In a medium sized shake, there is over 80 GRAMS OF SUGAR!!!!!!!!! That is pretty ridiculous! Just do yourself a favor and make follow the recipe below instead! Its minty, sweet and has some hidden vegetables 🙂 Hope you enjoy!
Better Than McDonald’s Shamrock Shake (print here )
1/2 cup fresh mint
1/4 cup kale
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen cauliflower rice
2 tbsp full-fat coconut milk
1/2 cup almond milk
- Starting with the liquid, add ingredients to the blender
- Blend until smooth
- Top with cacao nibs and enjoy
